Transitions in our Ministry Team

Rev. Marlin Lavanhar is taking a long awaited sabbatical starting May 7 and will return on August 7, 2022. In his absence, Rev. Randy Lewis will join our ministry as our sabbatical minister and has contracted with All Souls for the next two years. Rev. Lewis previously served as an adjunct minister before moving in 2014. He is a community minister and organizer, chaplain, spiritual advisor, and entrepreneur and is coming to us from Raleigh, North Carolina.

His extended presence will facilitate a transition in our ministry team. Rev. Barbara Prose, our Executive Minister, will be moving to the Pacific Northwest next year. She will continue with All Souls through the 2022-2023 church year. Rev. Prose’s twelve years at All Souls has included leadership and development of our pastoral care programs and countless justice initiatives with our teams and community partners. She has delivered hundreds of meaningful sermons with genuine and honest reflections from our pulpit. All Souls is grateful for her service and is honored to have been the home of her ministry for more than a decade. Over the coming months, join us in celebrating her and wishing her the best in the next season of her life.

Rev. Lavanhar’s sabbatical has been a long-time coming. Originally scheduled for 2020, his first sabbatical in 22 years, was canceled. Rev. Lavanhar will take some much-needed rest before he and his family travel by car through Spain, Portugal, and Morocco! The staff and congregation are fully supported in his absence with the leadership of Rev. Prose and Rev. Lewis, in addition to Cory Lovell, our current intern minister, who is contracting with us through the summer.

Rev. Lavanhar looks forward to returning in August fully refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to launch the next season of All Souls. In Fall of 2023, we can look forward to some town hall meetings to receive feedback from the congregation to prepare for the next steps in our Master Planning design for our Peoria campus. We will also be engaging the membership as we develop a vision for All Souls over the next 10 years. Plus, the congregation will be in search for a new minister. The church year, beginning in autumn of 2022, will give us a rare opportunity to shape the future of All Souls.
