ACTION After the Walkout: Educate. Elect. Engage.

Oklahoma teachers changed the shape of conversation in Oklahoma around education funding with the historical 9-day Oklahoma Teacher Walk Out. Although the Walk Out has ended, teachers and supporters have pledged to continue the fight for more school funding and teacher pay.

ACTION Tulsa is hosting four events around the continued discussion of education in Oklahoma.

ACTION (Allied Communities of Tulsa Inspiring Our Neighborhoods) is Tulsa’s only broad-based organizing effort. Through our member institutions (congregations and non-profits), we teach the practical skills of public engagement to Tulsans. In so doing, ACTION aims to sustain a vibrant democratic culture in Tulsa, which builds the power necessary to effect change around issues that matter most to our families.

ACTION After the Walkout: Educate. Elect. Engage.

This first event will cover what the legislation did (or did not) pass during the walk out, who the key players in decision-making were, and what to expect in the 2019 legislative session.
Thursday, May 24  | 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  |  Fellowship Congregational Church
The walk-out changed the shape of conversation in Oklahoma around education funding.  Hear from teachers who participated and legislative expert David Blatt of the Oklahoma Policy Institute, and develop next steps to continue the work of reinstating funding to public education in Oklahoma.
