Honoring Transgender Day of Remembrance

Dear Beloved Community Members,

As we approach the commemoration of the Transgender Day of Remembrance, we are thrilled to announce that the All Souls Unitarian Church, in collaboration with the All Souls LGBTQ & Allies, has been entrusted with hosting this significant event on November 20th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. It is an immense honor for our church to serve as the host of such a crucial gathering.

What Is Transgender Day of Remembrance?

The Transgender Day of Remembrance stands as a poignant moment to honor and remember the lives of transgender individuals who have been lost due to violence and discrimination. This solemn occasion holds great importance as it allows us to come together, reflect, and pledge our support to create a more inclusive and safer world for all.

Nations across the globe will unite in observation, highlighting the need for awareness, acceptance, and justice for the transgender community. We, at All Souls, are committed to fostering an environment of love, respect, and understanding for all individuals, regardless of their gender identity.

Schedule of Events:

The evening’s schedule for Monday, November 20th, will encompass a service beginning in the sanctuary at 6:30pm, followed by a symbolic ‘circle of light’ on our front lawn, weather permitting, and conclude with a reception in Emerson Hall. It’s a time for reflection, solidarity, and community building.

Show Your Support:

To ensure the success and meaningfulness of this event, we call upon our LGBTQ+ Team and our youth members to join hands in hosting and supporting the proceedings. Volunteers are essential to making this event a profound and memorable experience for all attendees. We invite you to stand in solidarity with us, to honor those who are no longer with us, and to advocate for a future where every individual is celebrated and valued for who they are. Your participation as a volunteer will contribute significantly to the success of this important day.

If you’re willing and able to volunteer your time and support, please consider joining us in this noble cause. Together, let’s make this year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance a moment of unity, reflection, and commitment to a more compassionate world.

We will need ushers, greeters, reception workers and a team for clean up afterwards. Please let me know via email (rlewis@allsoulschurch.org) of your availability and I will add you do the list.

With heartfelt gratitude for your support and dedication,

Rev. Randy
