Centennial Awards: Judy Jarvis

In our Centennial year, All Souls is honoring members of our church who have contributed greatly to shape how our congregation and community care for each other. On Sundays, we are featuring an honoree, highlighting their service and their meaningful experiences.

Simple Gifts Award

The All Souls Simple Gifts award is presented to Judy Jarvis for the years of service and simple gifts she has offered to the church. Judy was a part of our Simple Gifts publication from its earliest days. She served on the editorial team that converted Simple Gifts to beyondbelief.online, moving our content from print publication to web, and helped launch “The F Word,” a look at Feminism through members of All Souls in 2019.

“I was drawn to the work involved and regarded it as a pleasure. I often found myself partnered with like-minded, terrific company in doing the proofreading and editing. The publications and communications are important to me so I wanted to contribute,” Judy said. “Over time, I watched and participated as Simple Gifts developed technologically and become more relevant to All Souls development in content.”

“I hope all members will find a way to put their interests to use in work as a volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to learn how the parts of the church work separately and together. The volunteer has an opportunity to widen their perspective; get to know other members, develop talents, and take part in the planning and growth of All Souls.”

Judy encourages all who come to All Souls, online or in person, for years or for the first time, to find outlets for your volunteer spirit in various parts of the church organization. “You’ll find an amazing array of ways to use and develop skills, talents, and to be of service while enjoying the rewards of volunteering. Volunteering offers a view and feeling of the life of All Souls as a whole.”

Do you have a story you’d like to tell?

All Souls is always looking for unique perspectives, stories of our Unitarian faith in practice, community building, and the human experience. We also need volunteers to help us capture church life through photography, videography, editing, storytelling, and AV work. To connect and volunteer in any of these capacities, please email our Director of Communications Bonita James, bjames@allsoulschurch.org.
