Summer Stories: Heart-Opening Journeys

This Summer, we’ve invited a few of our members who came to All Souls with Carlton D. Pearson in 2008 to share their heart-opening and profoundly inspirational stories.

On Sunday, June 10 Nicole Ogundare joined Rev. Marlin Lavanhar to share insight from her personal and spiritual journey—from mega-church Pentecostalism to worshipping, joining, and working with All Souls.

Nicole Ogundare is a beloved All Souls member and our Ministry and Life Events Coordinator. She leads our Welcoming Souls team helping us to create an environment of radical hospitality, love, and acceptance.

On Sunday, June 24, Carmen White-Janak, took to the chancel to ask something that crosses all of our minds, “What is this fresh Hell?”

Rev. Carmen White-Janak is a 4th-generation preacher whose ministry is provocative, powerful, and progressive. She brings her whole self and shares stories and humor with a deep abiding love for humanity.

On Sunday, July 1, Dorothy Checotah, joined Rev. Gerald Davis on the chancel. She shared her story of how she met Carlton Pearson and that love is more than being accepted, it’s being truly included.

Dorothy Checotah has been a member of All Souls since 2008 is the current Board of Trustees Secretary. She has served the church in many capacities including Newcomers Board/Greeters, Intercultural Bridging Team, Pastoral Care Team, Shadz (formerly Mosaic) and Worship Associates.
